“Rehab” Singer Amy Winehouse Returns to Treatment
Amy Winehouse is back in treatment for addiction issues prior to her European concert dates.
She may have sung about saying “no, no, no” to rehab, but Amy Winehouse is rethinking that stance, seeing the benefits of substance abuse treatment. The Grammy-winning singer is back in rehab, a rep for the British star has confirmed.
CNN reported that the long-troubled artist “has embarked on a treatment program at the Priory Clinic," according to her rep. People mag added that it was Winehouse's father who helped her seek treatment.
"Her dad sat her down and said 'I think you're drinking too much again.' So she agreed to [get] an assessment to stop it [from] becoming a bigger problem," the source said.
Rehab Relapse
As anyone who’s battled substance abuse knows, recovery is a lifelong process and slip-ups can be part of the process. The important thing is to acknowledge mistakes and get back on track.
Winehouse has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, seeking treatment most recently in January 2008. Winehouse has good reason to get back to health quickly: She is scheduled to begin a series of European concert dates on June 18. A follow-up to her 2006 album Back to Black is also in the works.
