Get Your Loved One Into a California Drug Rehab
Getting your loved one into a California drug rehab is a huge process from beginning to end; there's no way around it. The emotional impact of separation alone is enough to devastate a family without the added implications of neglect, abuse, financial difficulties, failing health and other effects of drug addiction.
You don't have to go through it alone. The Canyon offers the families of addicts assistance throughout the process of getting loved ones into rehab, from the initial planning phases of drug addiction intervention to actually escorting your loved one from your doorstep to ours.
California Drug Rehab: Does Your Loved One Need It?
First things first. if you are already quite certain that your loved one is not only using and abusing drugs and/ or alcohol but also trapped by drug addiction and refusing to undergo drug treatment, then you can move onto the next step: confronting your loved one.
But if you are unsure as to whether or not the extent of drug abuse your loved one is dealing with fits the definition of drug addiction, consider the following:
- Has your loved one's appearance significantly changed to the detriment of hygiene and basic upkeep of hair, clothing, and bathing? This is especially significant if, previously, your loved one was quite picky about his or her appearance.
- Has your loved one changed the people he or she hangs out with to a group whose main interest is using drugs or drinking?
- Does your loved one avoid events in which he or she cannot fade to the background or can't get away with using drugs or drinking?
- Has he or she lost interest in old healthy activities that are athletic or creative?
- Does he or she tend to spend lots of time alone or have mood swings the fluctuate between extreme highs and extreme lows rapidly?
If the answer is 'yes' to these questions then your loved one is likely struggling with drug and/ or alcohol addiction and it's time to move to the next step.
California Drug Rehab: Confronting Your Loved One
Confronting your loved one about the serious nature of his or her drug abuse and addiction is never easy, not for you and not for them. No one wants to hear that they are hurting themselves and they especially don't want to hear that they are hurting the people they love. The important thing to remember is that though it may appear that your loved one is choosing his behavior or choosing drug and alcohol addiction over you and your family, the fact is that drug addiction is a medical disease and one that requires medical treatment once it takes hold. Your loved one needs drug rehab to get better and learn how to fight the disease so that he or she can make better treatments that put their family first.
California Drug Rehab Intervention for Your Loved One
A drug rehab intervention is one way to confront your loved one in a nonjudgmental manner. By making it a formal event, your loved one can't brush off your concerns or turn it around and make it personal. The goal is to help them understand the severity of their drug addiction and get them to immediately accept help and go to drug rehab.
