Sober Living Versus Aftercare Services
When your stay at a short- or long-term drug and alcohol rehab is complete, you have three choices: you can extend your stay in rehab, choose a sober living facility or opt for aftercare services. Your choice will depend upon how solid you feel in recovery and whether or not you are ready to return to the stresses and temptations at home.

Our aftercare services are reserved for those who are returning home from our drug and alcohol rehab here in the Santa Monica Mountains just outside of Beverly Hills and Los Angeles in California.
Sober Living Facilities
Sober living facilities can be private homes dedicated to preserving the sobriety of its inhabitants or facilities integrated into drug and alcohol rehab centers. On site staff to oversee the house, house rules like curfews and household chores and a focus on getting jobs and setting goals characterize most reputable sober living facilities. If you choose a sober living facility that is integrated into a drug rehab, you will likely have better access to therapies and medical services as well as group meetings on site. On the other hand, a private sober living home outside of any organization is one step closer to mimicking the experience of living without drugs out in the "real world."
Aftercare Services
Aftercare services are offered as a part of most drug and alcohol rehab programs after you complete your drug and alcohol treatment. These include regular phone check-ins if you live far from the facility or weekly in-person check-ins with your counselor or therapist if it's convenient for you. Group meetings are usually available as well to continue your connection to your treatment community as you build a new connections in your home community.
