Drug Detox

Drug Detox: The Basics

Drug detox is a term that refers to how your body rids itself of the buildup of toxins in its system brought on by long-term drug use. A cleansing of sorts, a drug detox is an essential part of drug treatment and puts you in a state of sobriety and abstinence that will help you better handle early recovery. The Canyon is prepared to help you or your loved one detox off of a number of drugs including alcohol, prescription painkillers, crystal meth, heroin, cocaine, crack and other stimulants and depressants.

Drug Detox: A First Step to Recovery

Detoxification, while an important step, is only the first step towards recovery. Alone, detoxification does nothing more than physically rid the body of the drug. It does not help you cope with the compulsion to use or change any of the things that started your drug use in the first place, but it is absolutely necessary. Done right, a drug detox can be the gateway to a life free from drug addiction. Done wrong-without support and medical assistance-or for someone other than yourself, drug detox is only going to send you right back into addiction.

At The Canyon, we supervise your drug detox and provide medical prescriptions to help ease your withdrawal symptoms when necessary. We also provide you with a healthy diet to help you maintain your energy and get through the detox as quickly as possible. Additionally, there are a wide variety of stress-relieving and therapeutic services available at The Canyon both during and after your detox.

Drug Detox: Safely, Slowly and Efficiently

Detoxification occurs in a controlled, safe, and comfortable environment is an important beginning in the recovery process. It is not recommended that you try this alone. First of all, chances are that it won't work. Withdrawal symptoms can be intense, even debilitating, and if you go it alone the temptation to ease the pain by using can be overwhelming. With a medical professional available to prescribe medication as necessary to ease your symptoms, a drug detox can be more comfortable, thereby increasing your chances of success and smoothing your transition into recovery.
