Mexico's Drug Danger

Mexico faces violence because of drugsA California educator was among those senselessly murdered in Mexico over the Christmas holiday by gunmen with suspected drug ties.

The drug violence in Mexico continues.

During the Christmas holiday, a California educator was among six murdered in Mexico by a group that family members believe had drug ties. Augustin Roberto "Bobby" Salcedo, of the Southern California city of El Monte was abducted from a restaurant near the Mexican state of Durango and his body was later found in a local ravine, riddled with bullets.

Salcedo was in Mexico visiting his wife's family over the holidays. While dining out one night, armed men barged in, forcing all patrons to the floor. The gunmen then abducted all six men in Salcedo's party, according to CNN.com. The following morning, Salcedo's family was notified that his body had been found.

Salcedo was a respected assistant principal who was pursuing a doctorate in education. His family is speaking out to shine a light on the ongoing drug violence in Mexico that they blame for what they call a "random, violent act," believing Salcedo was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Drug violence in Mexico continues to spill over the border into the U.S. and affect Americans travelling to Mexico.
