Overcoming Drug Addiction
Because there are different aspects of drug addiction, so too are there different avenues that are effective means of overcoming drug addiction. Outpatient treatments are good for those who simply relapsed and need a refresher or for those who have low-dose habits for short periods of time. Inpatient treatments are better for those who are serious about completely changing their life's direction and creating a whole new way of looking at the world through a rehab facility treatment.
At The Canyon, we provide inpatient drug treatment and sober living in Southern California. Our specialty is treating those who need to overcome drug addiction in addition to managing co-occurring psychological conditions like depression. We are here to help those who are serious about helping themselves.
Overcoming Drug Addiction Physically
Over time, as you continue to take drugs, fundamental changes occur in your brain. Your wiring becomes different in such a way that your focus is constantly on your next drink, shot, line or smoke. Your pleasure center is realigned to experience relaxation only when under the influence. Making the decision to overcome drug addiction starts with accepting your new physical makeup as fact and taking drastic steps to address these changes and rewire your brain with new activities and new habits so that you can focus on other things and find pleasure in other ways.
At The Canyon, we address the physical side of addiction with a medical detox upon entry, if necessary. After that, we make sure that gentle exercise, yoga and meditation, and organic, healthful meals are a priority in your treatment. We help you recreate your habits so that physical and mental wellbeing are incorporated into the foundation of your new lifestyle.
Overcoming Drug Addiction Emotionally
Mental addiction and a wounded spirit can create an emotionally addicted state with a hold that is just as threatening as the physical grip of drug addiction. Those who suffer from psychological issues like depression, schizophrenia, antisocial disorder and the like are especially prone to suffer from chemical dependence and it is precisely these people who will benefit most from treatment at The Canyon.
The Canyon is a licensed substance abuse and addiction treatment facility but the staff is made up of a combination of Master's level clinicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, addictionologists, and therapists. They provide an integrated program made up of traditional and nontraditional therapies. You will find options that are as disparate as adventure/ropes therapy and traditional 12-step support groups. The idea is that each individual who comes to stay with us will benefit from a different combination of our varied treatments and find emotional strength within themselves.
