Did You Get a DUI and Need Drug Treatment?
The criminal justice system refers about 655,000 people every year for drug and alcohol rehab, which accounts for roughly 36 percent of all admissions. Most clients are under age 25, have never been in treatment before, and usually have great success with outpatient therapy programs. What may surprise you, though, is that alcohol is the number rated one drug of choice for individuals in treatment.
The Canyon offers many different therapy options that fulfill the court's DUI requirements. Whether you've been ordered to enroll in rehab as pre-trial intervention, or because of more serious troubles associated with mental illness, child abuse, neglect, or domestic violence, The Canyon staff is equipped to assist you in developing healthy choices and positive relationships that result in lifelong well being.
The Truth About Drinking Under the Influence (DUI)
Driving while intoxicated is the number one cause of motor vehicle injuries and death in the United States. Almost one million people each year are injured in auto accidents, around 17,000 don't make it out alive. Drinking and driving really is a dangerous combination. Could you live with yourself if you were the one to cause an accident that killed someone?
DUI Laws in the United States
Every state has different legal limits for driving under the influence. Blood alcohol content (BAC) typically becomes over the legal limit between 0.08-0.10 for adults over age 21, or between 0.01-0.02 for drivers under 21.
Consider that when you begin to relax after one or two drinks your BAC is at 0.03-0.059, when you start to feel really good you're at 0.06-0.1, slurred speech starts when BAC arrives at 0.11-0.2, followed by blackouts at 0.21-0.29, unconsciousness around 0.3-0.39, and finally death when your BAC reaches 0.4 or greater.
