Drug Treatment and Interventions
Simply defined, an intervention is a compassionate way to approach a person in the middle of a crisis with addiction, and the purpose of such an intervention is to present assistance and treatment options to escape the deadly grip of drugs or alcohol.
The Canyon is available with professional interventionists who can assist you in planning, organizing, and orchestrating an intervention for someone in crisis. Additionally, our Healing Life treatment program re-orients the body, mind, and spirit so that your loved one can begin a drug-free, sober lifestyle with a combination of traditional and holistic healing modalities during the residential stay.
The Goal of a Drug Treatment Intervention
In more recent years, the scope of an intervention has broadened to include the addicted person's family unit or work environment. No man (or woman) is an island, and those suffering from addiction are no exception. The atmosphere in which we live our lives affects us in ways which may not be easily recognized at first. Unspoken rules, conflicting messages, confusing signals - whether broadcast or received as such - can distort our understanding of reality.
In other words, drug addiction really is a family affair. Treating the addiction, changing behaviors, making better choices, and learning new skills are virtually useless if attitudes at home or work remain unhealthy and unsupportive.
Treating the individual in crisis is the immediate goal, but providing assistance to any individual that desires to establish healthy patterns is the true measure of a successful intervention.
How To Do a Drug Treatment Intervention
- 1. Call us for a free assessment so that we can match you with the best interventionist for your situation.
- 2. Discuss your situation with your interventionist and together determine which of The Canyon's treatment options are most suitable to your location, clinical needs, and insurance coverage. Our admissions staff will handle enrollment forms and arrange for transportation.
- 3. Begin to organize friends and family.
- 4. Meet with your interventionist the day before the event to review educational materials, talk about the selected course of treatment, what recovery involves, and prepare and rehearse written letters to read aloud to your loved one.
- 5. Gather the next morning with your family, friends, and loved one to present your stories, memories, statistics, and request that the addict in your life choose immediate treatment.
- 6. Escort your loved one immediately to the facility with personal items already assembled.
Drug Treatment Intervention Success Rates
Statistics show that 75 percent of addicts accept drug treatment on the same day of an intervention, and 92 percent begin within one week.
Individuals whose jobs were at risk from addiction-related behaviors are able to breathe new life into their careers after an intervention and treatment program. Decreasing problems with supervisors, mistakes in work, missed days, and even injuries both on and off the job are just the beginning of the positive results that come as a result of a successful intervention and treatment. Recovering addicts have been known to evolve into model employees and top leadership roles.
Early intervention, comprehensive treatment program, and quality aftercare are the secret ingredients to a lifetime of successful recovery.
