There are two very basic categories of drug addiction treatment centers: inpatient residential rehab facilities and outpatient drug treatment programs. Outpatient drug treatment programs are best for those with low dose habits or who have not been living with chemical dependency for very long. There is little structure though there are usually requirements to attend support groups and education classes.

Some centers are very traditional and focus their treatment on behavior modification. Little attention is paid to the individual and his or her personal circumstance.
