Drug Treatment Centers

There are a number of different drug treatment centers to choose from, each with their own particular view of drug addiction treatment. At The Canyon, we believe in integrated therapies that address co-occurring psychological disorders and chemical dependency simultaneously. In beautiful Malibu, you will enjoy an inpatient residential treatment run by a Master's level clinical team for 30 days, 60 days or 90 days.

Drug Treatment Centers: Styles of Treatment

There are two very basic categories of drug addiction treatment centers: inpatient residential rehab facilities and outpatient drug treatment programs. Outpatient drug treatment programs are best for those with low dose habits or who have not been living with chemical dependency for very long. There is little structure though there are usually requirements to attend support groups and education classes.

Inpatient or residential treatment programs like you will find at The Canyon are comprehensive programs designed to immerse you in your recovery with a high amount of structure, guidance and support. A variety of treatment modalities are incorporated into The Canyon's schedule each week, and your personal clinician will design your treatment plan according to your unique needs and update it as needed as you progress through the program.

Drug Treatment Centers: Therapeutic Approaches

Each drug treatment center has a certain view of the nature of drug addiction and they choose a therapeutic approach to treat it accordingly. Some centers are very traditional and focus their treatment on behavior modification. Little attention is paid to the individual and his or her personal circumstance. Rather, the idea is that all addicts are the same and that drug addiction treatment is a one-size-fits-all proposition.

At The Canyon, we believe that each individual is unique. Psychological disorders, drugs of choice and other specifics from each person's life and experience have a part in determining which treatments will be most effective. To help each person find what works best for them as an individual, we provide a number of different therapeutic options to choose from including equine-assisted therapy, adventure and rope therapy, hypnotherapy, 12-step groups, codependency groups, single-gender and mixed-gender support groups, art therapy and psychodrama, yoga and meditation and more.
