Hilton’s Speedy Jail Time

Hilton's Speedy Jail TimeParis’ most recent arrest has some questioning why the famous get special treatment behind bars.

Celebs are used to getting the best tables in restaurants, freebies from designers and other perks of their fame. Now, that special treatment extends to getting arrested, too.

When Paris Hilton was recently booked into a Las Vegas jail for possession of cocaine, she was rushed through the booking process and released all in the span of just three hours (the process usually takes between five and 21 hours for “regular”  people, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal).

Why Paris Got Special Treatment

Officials have admitted the celebutante wasn’t treated like everyone else at the Clark County Detention Center, but it had more to do with keeping order at the facility and less to do with granting Hilton any favors.

"Yeah, she was treated differently so I don't have a disruption of my process here at the county jail," Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief Jim Dixon, who runs the detention center, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "When you bring somebody in like that, everybody comes over and tries to look at them. I'd have officers attempting to keep inmates away from her. I'd have disruptions."

Hilton, 29, was arrested after she and her boyfriend were pulled over in Las Vegas because police allege they smelled marijuana coming from the SUV. While being questioned, a packet of cocaine fell from the purse Hilton was holding. She was subsequently arrested for possession of the narcotic.

During her arrest, Hilton was moved to several different room, including an empty “drunk tank,”  before being released on her own recognizance. Hilton is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 27.
