The New “Proactive Treatment” for Addiction

The New “Proactive Treatment” for AddictionAnother actor heads to rehab before a public meltdown and without admitting to any sort of substance abuse issue.

Add Seann William Scott’s name to the long list of stars who have recently entered rehab to address what his rep calls the vague-sounding “health and personal issues.” It’s almost become the hot trend lately for actors to seek treatment without ever admitting to any sort of addiction in the first place.

Not that stars owe us the dirty details of their personal struggles, but it’s become the norm for the rich and famous to enter a program and remain mum about the background.

Scott is known for his party-guy roles in films like American Pie and Dude, Where’s My Car?, but it seems like the real-life party may have gotten out of hand. The 34-year-old Minnesota native’s rep released the following statement:

"Seann William Scott has voluntarily admitted himself for proactive treatment to address health and personal issues. He appreciates the support of his many fans at this time."

There’s no word on where Scott is receiving treatment or how long he will remain. The term “proactive treatment” in his rep’s statement points to that new trend we’re seeing where stars enter rehab before any sort of public meltdown or hitting rock bottom.
