Percocet Addiction Symptoms

Percocet addiction often starts with a simple prescription for Percocet. An opiate painkiller, Percocet is usually prescribed with the intent of easing mild to moderate pain. However, unless your doctor develops an exit plan for you along with the initial prescription, one that defines how and when you will decrease and finally stop your Percocet use, then it won't be long before you are physically addicted to the drug. For many, mental addiction soon follows and with it comes a debilitating Percocet addiction complete with uncomfortable and even painful Percocet addiction symptoms.

At The Canyon, we can help you break your addiction to Percocet. It starts with the will to change. Call for more information.

Detect Percocet Addiction Symptoms

When you are taking an opiate painkiller prescription, it is often difficult to be objective and determine whether or not you are experiencing Percocet addiction symptoms or if your symptoms are just side effects of the drug. Unfortunately, the best way to tell if you are addicted to Percocet physically is to note how you feel when you stop taking the drug, even miss a dose. If you feel ill, then you are likely experiencing Percocet withdrawal symptoms and these symptoms let you know that you are physically dependent upon Percocet. They include:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Dizziness and lightheadedness
  • Fatigue with insomnia
  • Bone and muscle pain
  • Irritation and anxiety

True Percocet addiction is characterized by emotional or mental dependence as well as physical. That means that you find yourself craving the drug or the euphoric high you feel when you take the drug. When this happens, you have a serious opiate addiction and you will need Percocet detox in order to break your Percocet habit safely and effectively.

Percocet Addiction Symptom Dangers

When your body is dependent physically and mentally upon Percocet, your tolerance rises. Should you try to treat the addiction on your own, you take two risks: changing your tolerance and antagonizing co-occurring medical conditions. The result can be seizures, a heart attack, coma and even death whether or not you are aware that you have an underlying medical disorder. On the other hand, if you decide that the withdrawal symptoms are too much and opt to return to your regular Percocet schedule, you may find that your tolerance has decreased so much in the time that you stopped taking the drug that your old dose now equals an overdose. These are risks too dangerous to take on alone.

Treat Percocet Addiction Symptoms

Percocet addiction and Percocet addiction symptoms are treatable with a Percocet detox followed by Percocet addiction treatment. A comprehensive Percocet rehab should address both the physical and mental/ emotional of Percocet addiction. You can choose an outpatient day treatment program or an inpatient residential facility. At The Canyon, we offer both modes of treatment.
