The Canyon at Peace Park Presents Swamiji

His Holiness Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, known simply as Swamiji, is one of the outstanding spiritual masters and foremost proponents of peace in our time. For 40 years he has been on a humanitarian mission to foster global harmony with his message:
Inner Peace for World Peace.

On Friday, September 26th from 2pm to 4pm You are invited to join us at Peace Park and experience his message first hand.

Overview in Brief

Born in rural Rajasthan, India, His Holiness met his spiritual Master at age 13. Through rigorous study under Paramhans Swami Madhavananda, known as Holy Guruji, Swamiji attained the state of self-realization at age 17. In 1970, he moved from India to Europe to spread the teachings of yoga. As a citizen of the world, Swamiji has dedicated his life to global peace, protection of the environment and religious tolerance.

UN LogoHis deep understanding of modern problems inspired Swamiji to create a down-to-earth, graded system, Yoga in Daily Life. This teaching incorporates deep relaxation, breathing exercises, self-inquiry meditation and techniques for detoxification of the body and stimulation of the mind to overcome stress, improve memory and find the true beauty in life. The Yoga in Daily Life system is practiced by millions at thousands of centers in 30 countries. His books are published in 11 languages.

Yoga in Daily Life is a non-profit organization in roster Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. His Holiness has addressed the UN on several occasions. He has also has initiated annual International Peace Summits, founded a World Peace Council and participated in many Interfaith Conferences. He has received awards and gratitude from heads of state and government leaders for his acclaimed work to advance the spiritual, social, physical and mental health in their countries.

To support his humanitarian goals, Swamiji has built a Yoga in Daily Life education and research institute, and a full service hospital in India. The school opened in 2002. Also in current operation are a free ambulance, first aid and fire fighting service, an animal refuge and the innovative Desert Rainwater Harvesting Initiative which provides life-saving water to surrounding rural communities.

During his 2008 annual World Peace Tour, Swamiji will speak to the general public, as well as influential government leaders and socially-aware celebrities about how to attain personal and world-wide peace through yoga. Peace starts with you.
